Paul Skenes has a short but deep catalog, and it is easy to lose track of what actually exists — every set fans out into a full refractor rainbow, numbered parallels, autographs and inserts. This page is the set-by-set want-list: what card types live inside each of his rookie-era sets, in what order of scarcity, so you can tick them off as you build. A note on numbers: we describe set structure — the card types and how their parallels are ordered — but we do not print specific card numbers, print runs or serials, because those vary by set and are best confirmed from the actual listing. Every set below has a live eBay rail so you always see the real cards and current market.

How to use this checklist

Work set by set, cheapest tier up:

1. Own one base card from each rookie-era set first — that anchors your collection in real cards.
2. Add the refractors and colored parallels you can afford, working up the rarity ladder (see the parallels & refractors guide for how the ladder is ordered).
3. Chase the autograph — the 1st Bowman Chrome Prospect Auto is the pinnacle.
4. Fill in Topps Now and inserts for the moments and design chases you like.

2023 Bowman Draft — the prospect pillar

His first Bowman cards live here — BD-14 (paper, flagged “1st”), BDC-14 (Chrome) — and this is where the marquee autograph, CDA-PS, is. 2024 Bowman Chrome is a separate, RC-flagged card (#31) with no autograph. Full breakdown on the Bowman set review.

Card types to check off:

• 1st Bowman Chrome base — the non-auto chrome prospect card; the affordable entry to his first card.
• 1st Bowman Chrome refractors — the parallel rainbow, from the unnumbered base refractor up through colored numbered refractors to the 1/1 Superfractor.

2024 Topps Chrome Update — the official chrome rookie

• Chrome Update base RC — the official rookie with the RC logo, chrome stock.
• Chrome Update refractors — base refractor up through colored numbered refractors to the 1/1 Superfractor, the same ladder as the Bowman chrome cards.
• Chrome Update auto / insert variations — where present; confirm the autograph from the listing photo.

2024 Topps Update — the paper flagship rookie

• Topps Update base RC — the paper flagship rookie, the value entry to his official rookie.
• Topps Update parallels — the foil and numbered paper parallel ladder (colored borders and serial-numbered variations).
• Update insert / short-print variations — image and photo variations where they exist.

2024 Topps Now — the dated moments

Print-to-order cards tied to specific 2024 moments — debut, dominant starts, his rookie All-Star nod. These are a distinct line with a short sales window and no reprint; the Topps Now page covers them in full.

• Topps Now base moments — one card per commemorated game/event.
• Topps Now parallels & autos — colored and autographed versions of the moment cards, where offered.

2025 and beyond — the current-year cards

His post-rookie base and insert cards — flagship, Chrome, Bowman and insert brands of an established star. These carry no RC logo (only 2024 is his rookie year) and are usually the cheapest way to add a fresh Skenes card each season.
