Supplies are the unglamorous half of collecting: penny sleeves, toploaders, one-touch magnetic holders, semi-rigids for grading submissions, and storage boxes. A Skenes rookie is only worth what its condition supports, and condition is decided by how it's stored from the moment it leaves the pack.

The order that matters: penny sleeve first, then a toploader or one-touch. Semi-rigid holders — not toploaders — are what graders want for submissions.

Or skip the protection problem entirely

A graded slab is storage and authentication in one. If the card is valuable enough to protect carefully, it may be worth buying it certified in the first place — these open live eBay listings.

Card Supplies FAQ

What supplies do I need for a valuable rookie card?

At minimum: a penny sleeve, then a toploader or a one-touch magnetic holder for display. For a grading submission you need semi-rigid card savers instead of toploaders — graders reject toploaders — plus a team bag and a rigid shipping box.

Do toploaders work for PSA submissions?

No. PSA and the other major graders ask for cards in penny sleeves inside semi-rigid holders such as Card Savers, because toploaders are difficult to remove a card from safely. Sleeve, semi-rigid, team bag — that's the submission stack.
